Pennsylvania Sightings

The Following two reports were reported to C.U.E. in 2011 after a meeting of M.A.P.S(Mysteries & Paranormal Society). The eyewitness went on to describe a seies of dogman reports that he had encountered in the 1990's.

1990 Mercer County, PA
The first sighting occured in the spring of 1990 between 9-10 pm in the Hermitage and Sharon, PA are. The eyewitness was walking with his friends on the east side of the woods where he lived when they came to a spot where a path was cut through the woods by the old water company. They heard a noise up the path and shined their flashlight in that direction to see what looked like a giant dog feeding on something. The light made it stand up on its hind legs and turn and look at them. It looked like a man with a dog or wolf face. It then turned around and ran into the woods but left a smell of a wet dog. The next day they found a deer that was eaten and broken branches about 6 feet off the ground.

1991 Same Area
In the fall of 1991 between 9:30-10:30 pm the eyewitness, after spotlighting for deer, came home and went looking for his friends and found them by the old water company. His friends had told him that they had just seen the creature. They shined the spotlight after hearing the noise and saw the creature standing by a telephone pole. Again, the wolf-like creature was standing on two legs. It ran into the woods and they did not see it again. The next day they took a measuring tape and measured from where the creature's head was just under a spike in the pole and it measured 7 feet from the ground.

The Mercer County area has been a hotbed of dogman sightings since the 1960's with many of the sightings coming from the Shenango Resevoir.

Year: June, 2013
Location: Near West Newton
West Newton Dogman Sighting
This report was sent to me by a person from West Newton who wants to remain anonymous. A group of friends were planning to have a camp-out by the river and this is what happened on their way there. They ended up not going camping after this event.
Me and my friends were walking on the top of an old dam in the woods just outside of West Newton PA in Westmoreland county when we heard strange growling noises coming from the base of the dam. We looked down to see what we had originally thought to be a man with black clothes on, but , upon closer inspection with a pair of binoculars, was infact a wolf like creature walking upright going to get a drink from a pool of water. We quickly ran away and had to take a longer, alternate route back into town.

Year: Spring 2014
Location: New Castle
A woman and her daughter were out walking their dog in the evening by a cemetery before dark, right before thunderstorm. The daughter got bored and decided to go back to the vehicle and wait for her mom to finish the walk. While in the car she saw a bipedal Werewolf with a snout that was about 5 feet tall, that had grayish fur and dark eyes. The creature came out of  the bushes and then walked around the vehicle once and went back into bushes. It made eye contact with the daughter who froze in terror. When the mother returned to the car the daughter was hysterical with fear. The mom believes the daughter and doesn't think she was lying. They seem to think that it is possible that the approaching thunder/electrical storm was used as an energy source by the creature to manifest in this world/dimension.? This cemetery is on the outskirts of town in a rural area. Lots of woods/creeks, good habitat. Daughter was emphatic that the creature was not a Bigfoot. It had a wolf-like snout. This area of Pennsylvania has a lot of weird phenomenon.

    1. This is interesting. I think i will head down there today myself. I am not familiar with this area though. I live about 100 miles away...but definitely worth the trip just to be in the same area as a werewolf. I would really like to meet this creature. Where abouts is the shenango reservoir, and something about an old dam in the woods?

    1. I am fascinated by your story. Would you be able to tell me what cemetery you saw the creature. I would very much like to visit this area, and just walk the road and see if i can feel or see anything. I am very passionate about these creatures and enjoy visiting these types of areas where sightings have occurred.

  4. I am very passionate about these cryptid creatures. Does anyone know where this path that the old water company made? I would love a chance to see one of these creatures. Would be great just to walk this road and check out the area. If you can tell me something about this...that would be great. If you don't have anything nice to say or feel like criticizing me, then just keep it to yourself.

  5. My daughter was walking her dogs last night in the city park in Portage, Pa/ near the rear of the park when she spotted what she described as a massive something that stood about 6 feet tall on dog like legs that was staring at her and swaying back and forth. It was about 25 yards in front of her in the light of a street lamp so she was able to clearly see it. She was terrified although she said the dogs didn't seem to notice it. She said she very quickly turned and ran away as fast as she could. She called it a wolfman. I asked her if it could be a dogman? She said that it could as it's legs were absolutely those of a dog like creature.

    1. I am very intrigued by your experiences with that dog creature. I have had a few of my own experiences, but i actually go "visiting" with these creatures when i can. I live quite far away from any "wolfman" activities so i don't get to visit these areas as often as i would like to. So as strange as this may sound, i actually get a bit jealous when reading some of these stories. Most are terrified of these creatures and i understand. Standing on 2 legs and swaying back and forth....yes that sounds like one of those creatures, but often, i think they are out there with a purpose in mind, and not perhaps the evil purpose that most people are thinking. Life is alot more dynamic that people realize. I have had about 4 encounters with what i believe to be canine creatures, not visual encounters, just audible ones, and one fairly certain encounter with big foot, all encounters at night and i always go alone. I tend to think that they only reveal themselves visually when you are NOT looking for them. Since i go looking for them for peaceful reasons, just to visit, and unarmed, i don't like weapons and i dont carry them, it seems like they only make certain sounds to indicate their presence, at least this is what i have experienced. I'm actually more terrified of humans harassing me just to be mean than i am being in the presence of these creatures. I visited a road where a wolf like creature was seen, and i felt a strong presence of something, the full moon was out and there was this area that looked like a swamp with dead trees around. That particular area felt very strong of something. I knelt down on the road under the full moon and just humbled and submitted myself to the presence of whatever it was. If you face something with fear and defense, you are just inviting or asking for that to be returned to you....that's how i feel about it. I just looked at a hot spot map and this area that you are describing is within that hot spot and its only 3 hours away from me. Ive got to get down there for a visit sometime. Anyways...have a good day and interesting comment!!

    1. Thank you so much for your information about cryptids. There is a place I have found where the dog men seem to be "warming up to me". I have had numerous subtle encounters with something that displays uncanny sounds and gestures. Very special. I'm very skid-dish around people, and to protect myself and these cryptids, I prefer not to disclose where I "hang out" with them. I will just say, that not all of these creatures are aggressive, and perhaps, it also has something to do with how you approach them, and what you are thinking and feeling on the inside. This is their home world too, and if you acknowledge that, and carry those feelings of humility and respect with you, at least for me, have resulted in zero aggression when I go to visit these areas, which I have documented in one of my articles. Be aware of them yes, but also be respectful, and a growl does not necessarily equate an attack. My very first encounter was a growl, but by staying calm and respectful, I have learned some intriguing things about something mysterious and terrifying, that I have found to be just as beautiful and inspiring.

  16. People who go seeking these things are looking for trouble! If you think for one minute they are not going to hurt you, you are nuts!. I had a friend in CT that had a large German Shepard that was being lead on by a playful female coyote. What was happening was she was setting him up for the pack so they could ambush him. Family kept an eye on him and did not let him out by himself. When she came around they scared her off.

    1. You are a person that sides with fear and misunderstanding. I have been visiting with dogmen secretly for 4 years. I have NOT even been growled at. Dogmen know that people and dogs are chummy, so perhaps that is why they go after them. Also people act like they own planet earth. Dogmen were here long before we were. Sorry, but dogmen have seniority here. We just need to learn to get Along with them as best we can. You are a person that jumps to negative conclusions about dogmen without actually getting out there with them to give them the chance to prove otherwise.

The difference between you and I is, I know things about them that very few do, because I don't let fear and hatred rule my heart, and that has allowed me to experience things that you are not going to be able to understand while typing out hateful comments on a computer. Google me as zaywolf. You will have a much better understanding of my feelings on this. I also understand about the coyote thing.....yes. I was in a very specific area where dogmen frequent, and suddenly the tree line in the distance came alive with what sounded like 50 coyotes howling, and after a couple minutes it all stopped just as abruptly as it began,. And then a dogman smacked a rock against a tree or something that made a loud "thunk" sound, and I could hear something shifting it's weight within the trees next to me. I talked to the dogman and shared my feelings and intentions, and I was not even growled at. It allowed me to pass through unharmed, and I was alone, unarmed and this was at 2am so your wrong about them. I have first hand experience with dogmen, so I know personally that they are not exclusively aggressive.

    3. So you say. I think you are anthropomorphizing something that no one understands (at least no one in the general public). You have gone into these places and seen/heard 'something' you don't know what it is, or what it might do. I know, you think you do. You think you have some special connection with whatever it is, but you don't. There was a naturalist/researcher who felt that way about grizzlies in Alaska a few years back. He felt he had the 'inside track' with them, so he took up residence among them in a tent, so he could commune with them and study them. When his human contacts checked on him, months later, they found only some of his bones, well gnawed. If this canid/cryptid thing is a predator, which it seems it is, you are at extreme risk (whether you think you are or not). If it's something not quite of this world, let's say, for the sake of discussion, something that exists only partially or temporarily in this world as we know it, then it very well be capable of deceiving anyone it encounters if it chooses to do so, for what ends I wouldn't even guess at this point (could be spiritual, or simply to feed). I do know this: people who think they have a spiritual connection with anything other than God are, whether they believe it or not, dealing with evil which seeks to devour their souls. You don't have to believe it. What you, or I 'believe' doesn't affect what 'is.' I wish you the best, and God's protection to you, because you need it.

  17. Brandon and I were down at the river near Ellwood city this evening. Around 7 pm we heard a large rock hit the water from across the river. The sound disturbed us. Than after another minute another rock hit. A total of 5 rocks thrown over the course of 15 mins. We had the flashlight up and seen the last rock fall. It looked big. The other side of the river was a very steep hill. With all the leave on the ground, we didn't hear a sound. Very nice hour trip out of the woods.
